Cannot import a map from OneDrive

What format should OSM maps be in to download them from my OneDrive? I tried using a .pbf map file, but the file was not recognized.

Here is what I tried:
Download > Offline > download (at bottom of screen) > OneDrive (under Select Import Source)

no files show up. Perhaps I need a different type of OSM file than .pbf?

Overlooked the answer on a previous search, but found it in this response:

"You can use the PC-app Mobac and download from e.g. Mapquest and generate an OSMdroid .gemf for later import."

I did just that. The Mobile Atlas Creator (Mobac, ) is a multiplatform Java app that lets you define a coverage and build a custom map. For maaloo on my WP8, I used the "OpenStreetMap MapQuest" map source and the "Osmdroid GEMF" output format. After creating the map, I uploaded it to OneDrive on my PC and then imported it into maaloo on my WP.
